Rosso Piceno DOC CACCIALEPRE

Caccialepre is the name of a wild plant (Reichardia picroides) that grows spontaneously along the edges of our vineyards. This tasty and healthy plant has always been present in traditional Marche cuisine, along with Rosso Piceno wine—of which our Caccialepre is a particularly interesting interpretation.

Vineyard
The Colle del Sole vineyard, located in the municipality of Maiolati Spontini, is characterized by soils rich in clay and silt. The vineyards, planted with Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes, are situated in the central part of the Colle del Sole hill and cover approximately 4 hectares of gently rolling hills. The average altitude is 120 meters above sea level.

Harvest
The selected grapes for Caccialepre 2015 are harvested in two phases: mid-September for Sangiovese and mid-October for Montepulciano. The yield is approximately 8 tons per hectare.

Vinification
Traditional red vinification in stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic fermentation lasts approximately 25 days, the first 20 of which are spent on the skins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately 12 months in large oak barrels before being bottled.

Montepulciano & Sangiovese
Montepulciano brings color, ripe fruit, and softness, while Sangiovese provides freshness, structure, and elegance. Together, they form a harmonious and balanced whole.
