Product information

Label
This is the only wine to bear the winemaker’s trademark — an ingenious, bold graphic representation of the three Cs, which stand for Cascina Castlet Costigliole .
The symbol embodies the connection between innovation and tradition, the sincere values and generosity of our rural families, and their love for cultivating their land and winemaking in particular.

Name
Litina was in fact a great-aunt whose dowry brought the vineyard into the family that now bears her name.
The name is proudly used as a symbol of the continued presence of a feminine touch in the management of the estate.

Harvest
The grapes are harvested by hand in the first half of October. The carefully selected bunches are processed immediately.

Vinification
The must ferments on the skins for about 10 days at a temperature of around 28°C, to obtain maximum extraction of colour and tannin substances.
The alcoholic fermentation is immediately followed by malolactic fermentation, which softens the acidity and gives the wine more harmony and balance.

Maturation and storage
The wine matures for approximately eight months in medium-sized oak barrels, followed by further refinement in bottle for over a year.
Litina comes on the market in the second year after the harvest.
When stored at a constant temperature of 15°C, the wine will continue to develop its elegance and balance for another 4 to 5 years.

Characteristics of the wine
Deep ruby red colour that changes to garnet as it matures.
A full, intense and persistent bouquet in which the structure and richness of Litina reveal notes of vanilla and forest fruits.
The palate is warm, dry and full, with all the power and vinosity of the vineyard — remarkably smooth and in perfect balance, with a long, intense finish.

Alcohol content
14.5 – 15% vol.

Serving suggestions and combinations
Best served at 18°C in wide glasses.
An excellent accompaniment to pasta dishes (such as tagliatelle or ravioli) with meat or game sauce, as well as stewed or roasted meats.
Also delicious with semi-matured cheeses, such as tomato and pecorino .

Grape variety

Barbara
The Barbera, grown on sun-drenched hillside vineyards with old vines, produces wines with depth, concentration, and elegance. The grapes offer intense aromas of ripe red fruit, spices, and a hint of vanilla. The age of the vines results in a full-bodied, balanced wine with supple tannins, lively freshness, and a refined, lingering finish—a pure expression of the Piedmontese terroir.
